"Let's keep the children at school and prevent them from the hazards of the street" This is a working title .The idea is that students shouldn't associate school only with tedious lessons and boredom, strict teachers but they should think of it as something attractive and desirable. The project will try to show that students can bring changes to their schools making them look much more modern, cosy as more and more students leave school without even finishing it. This will roughly happen in 3 aspects ; the way the school looks - how clean and tidy it is, pictures, posters, plants, greenery, etc.. Second; lessons and how students are involved in them , not just as passive recipients but as active participants, adding to the effective process of learning by developing and presenting lessons of their own, based on their interests and creativity, working in teams. Third; Students will be involved in a number of extracurricular activities - various clubs, sport games, Do it Yourself workshops lead by parents which can last even during the holidays so that children should not expose themselves to the hazards of the street..

These workshops will tighten the bond between parents and children, develop some skills which they can use in their life after school and then the things they have produced , for example benches, wastebins, flowerpots , etc will be used to decorate the school and make it more beautiful, exhibitions will be organised to display the objects which students themselves have made. This will include the fact that some of the objects could be donated to various instutions ,homes for elderly people or places for children who have no parents. Furthermore, children with special needs can also be included in project in order to integrate them and help them develop.

Our activities in Spain

These are our Comenius corners.

This is an explanation of different things about our country prepared by our older students.

We prepared an Italian receipt in class.

These are some of the activities we did at school to learn about our country and our colleagues' countries.

We worked on Gaudí, a Spanish Catalan architect from Reus and the best known practitioner of Catalan Modernism. Gaudí's works reflect an individualized and disctintive style. Most are located in Barcelona, including his most famous work, the Sagrada familia. We tried to reproduce his work in class and we visited "Sagrada Família" and "Parc Güell" in Barcelona.

We also worked on Joan Miró, a famous Spanish Catalan painter, sculptor and ceramist born in Barcelona. His work has been interpreted as surrealisc. We tried to reproduce his work in class and we visited one of his sculptures in Barcelona.

We practiced "stick Dance", a traditional Catalan dance.

Some parents came to explain us about their jobs

Our students prepared a presentation in English about  the legend of Saint George and the way we celebrate it in Catalonia.

These are some activities to improve our school situation.

We practised different sports to promote values such as teamwork, hardwork, success and failure, setting goals, overcoming adversity or having fun.

This is a video of our trip to Foggia where we met for the first time our colleagues from Italy and Turkey.

Our Comenius friends visited ZER Elaia. We met in the three towns and schools and we did some activities together:
In La Granadella we showed our colleagues some of our traditions, our pupils performed different dances, sang songs and played instruments, we ate at the countryside and had a meal with the families. we also ate a Comenius cake.
In Bovera we went to the countryside to do bird ringing and we ate a delicious paella made by our pupils' parents.
In Bellaguarda we visited the oil mill and we played with bubbles.
We also visited Lleida. It was a great experience for all of us.
